During week 1 of the 2025 Zaidi Shule Artist Camp students took a deep dive into marine exploration with an exciting trip to the Shedd Aquarium. From the moment they walked in, campers were in awe of the vibrant sea creatures swimming all around them. They explored ecosystems from coral reefs to the Amazon River, getting up close with jellyfish, stingrays, sea turtles, and more. The trip gave them a chance to see science come to life beyond the classroom.

The highlight of the day was hands-down the dolphin show. Campers were amazed as dolphins leaped, splashed, and soared through the air. Even more impressive was the behind-the-scenes look at dolphin enrichment where campers watched the dolphins interact with balls, spray hoses, and other tools used to keep them mentally and physically engaged. These moments helped our campers see just how much care and training goes into supporting the health of marine animals.

This unforgettable field trip gave our campers a powerful message: conservation matters. They left the Shedd Aquarium not only with wide eyes and big smiles, but also with a deeper understanding of how they can help protect our oceans and the life within them. Be sure to scroll through the photos below to relive some of the best moments from the trip!
