Garden Goals: Campers Get Their Hands Dirty

There’s something special about putting your hands in the soil, and our campers do just that. The Zaidi Shule garden is coming to life thanks to the hard work and heart of our students. From clearing out weeds to prepping the garden beds, our campers showed up ready to work and learn. They learned how to organize the space to give the plants room to grow and how to build up the beds to hold moisture and nutrients.

Our 4th through 8th graders took their learning even further by using math skills to measure each bed, calculate soil volume, and distribute it evenly across the garden. It wasn’t just planting prep, it was applied learning in action. The garden became their outdoor classroom, combining science, math, and teamwork into one hands-on experience. Every camper had a job, and every camper made a difference.

Watching our students problem-solve, collaborate, and celebrate their progress reminded us why this work matters. The garden isn’t just about vegetables, it’s about growth, inside and out. We can’t wait to see what sprouts next! Check out our photo gallery below to see our young farmers in action.
